Anti-slip flooring application FAQ:
| Q: | How does your anti slip flooring application work? |
| A: | We use professional level products that use micro etching technology to create vacuum cups in the tile surfaces. These micro etches in the tile are invisible to the naked eye but under high powered microscopes can be seen. When the tile is wet and the shoe walks over the tiles a suction effect is created to increase the surface tension on the tile surface |
| Q: | How long will the application take? |
| A: | Most applications can be done in one day. |
| Q: | What types of surface does your application work on? |
| A: | Our professional non slip application works on all types of ceramic and stone tile surfaces. It can also be used on agglomerates (resin type rock products). Our non slip flooring treatment is also very effective on slippery concrete surfaces. |
| Q: | How do we know if the product will work? |
| A: | Flooring slip levels are measured by COF (coefficient of friction). The COF is measured from zero to one with one being the most slip resistant. A tile floor with a rated at 0.5 is usually considered safe. The ADA (American with Disabilities Act) standards for slip resistance recommended 0.6 for level floors and 0.8 for ramps. By comparison, a COF of 0.6 means that you can literally run on ceramic tile while it is wet. Our procedure guarantees that your tile will meet 0.6 or higher. Most of our treated floors test from 0.7 to 0.8. Some tests have surpassed 0.9! |
| Q: | Will the process change the appearance of the tile flooring? |
| A: | Most tile and stone flooring will show little if any difference in appearance after the application. For some high gloss stone surfaces there may be a reduction in glossiness but considering the increased safety aspect the difference in appearance is minimal. |
| Q: | How long will the application last? |
| A: | Prestige Tile Care warranties our application for 5 years. The application process should last a lot longer then the warranty though. In general you can expect the application to last around 10 years. |
| Q: | Does this process alter how I clean and maintain my floors? |
| A: | You can continue to clean and maintain your floors just as before. |
| Q: | Will my business be disrupted? |
| A: | We can accommodate many schedules and we can provide the application at night or on weekends if needed. |
| Q: | Can I get a FREE demonstration? |
| A: | We generally like to do a test on a spare piece of tile if available. If you have no spare tiles we can discuss various options to accommodate your particular tile or stone floor. |
